STRETCH MARKS — the ultimate fear for any pregnant lady!

The key to prevent or delay it is to moisturize, moisturize and moisturize. If I am diligent with moisturizing throughout my pregnancy and even beyond, they say that I will not have stretch marks (or at least minimal marks). So, I have asked around and selected the products that I feel is best for me. I have been using them and feel that they work pretty well. Check them out yourselves.

1. Mother’s Special Blend — Recommended by a friend who swears by this oil. She already had her baby and looks good, so I thought I would give it a try. It is a kind of oil, so it is definitely very moisturizing. I love slathering it on and it keeps your skin pretty soft for many hours. I would recommend letting it absorb before putting your clothes on, but I do not find it messy. BIG PLUS: It smells like chocolate!

2. Colonial Dames Vitamin E Oil (28,000 IU) — Straight up vitamin E oil. It is THICK, but have patience and dab it a little at a time all around your belly. Here is what I do: get about a small dollop on my fingertip, quickly dab and spread the oil starting from near my belly button outwards, get more from the bottle and repeat. This may be a slightly slow process at first (definitely slower than applying Mother’s Special Blend), but it is worth it. Vitamin E is a strong antioxidant that helps increase elasticity to your skin. I have been using the Colonial Dames Vitamin E Cream on and off and love it. WHAT YOU NEED: Patience.

3. Avalon Organics Hand & Body Lotion (Lavender) — A great lotion and you can moisturize your hands at the same time, so why not? You can use your favorite body lotion to replace this as well. I use this on top of the thick vitamin E oil. I apply it so my belly is not sticky and I can put my clothes back on right away. If I get too lazy or am in a hurry, I just slather this lotion on. It absorbs quickly and I know that my skin is moisturized. You can also get the fragrance you prefer, but I like lavender. I have heard that the lavender smell can repel bugs. BEST FOR: Overall moisturizing.

Here is what I recommend…

Moisturize right after shower because your skin is at its softest and will probably absorb the products best. Either apply the Mother’s Special Blend by itself or use the Colonial Dames Vitamin E Oil plus the lavender lotion on top. Lotion can also be used on its own whenever you want, any time of the day, especially if you feel that your skin is getting itchy or dry and stretchy. You will not regret applying more.

{ Final thought }
I am still pregnant and therefore still looking out for other good moisturizers. What do you use and how is it working for you?
