This week, I decided to go ahead and let D go to school in underwear — after evaluating what his teacher told me early last week about him possibly being ready.
For the past 3 days, he had had accidents everyday. Yesterday, he had multiple accidents even. Tonight, he had an accident and cried when daddy went “uh-oh” too reactively while carrying him to the bathroom like a ticking time bomb.

So now I am thinking that I might have jumped ahead too fast. He is probably not ready, even though he can acknowledge right when he needs to go. But by that time, it was already too late.

I blame myself for jumping the gun. I have not even tried underwear or no diapers/pull-ups at home yet. (There is just no time with stuff going on over weekends! But that’s no excuse, I know.)

I want him to have successful potty experiences. I think we (his teacher and me) are going to keep at it until the end of the week and then re-evaluate the situation. I do not want to cause her extra work too, watching over him like a hawk for signs when he needs to go.

Let’s see how it goes in the next 2 days. I will report more on his progress then.
